About This Item

DJ has been put back together with tape. Is brittle, but it is on and covers book. Private Temple and Presentation Name Plate FLEP, very slight toning, else content appears as unread and unblemished with very good dark blue/gold gilt cloth covered boards, displaying minimal surface/edge wear.

Many of my books are from the 19th Century. Books were not written in at that time, instead an index card with info. Am enclosing the one found in this book for you. Enjoy.

From End Flap: Kallen, the philosopher wanders through Europe and Palestine and ponders on the sights which which Kallen the Jew sees. In the slums of Jerusalem and Warsaw and Lodz; of Moscow and Kharkov and Odessa, on the plains of Jezreel and the Ukrainian flatlands, he sees the Jews embattled as on the last frontiers of hope, champions, often unconsciously, of the Hebraic spirit in European civilization, and in American civilization, too.
