London: Evergreen Books (William Heinemann), 1940. First edition thus (softcover). 12mo (18cm by 11cm), 286pp. Original card wrappers, dustwrapper. Text pages tanned, else the book is in very good condition; the dustwrapper is in fair condition (rear panel torn with some loss). This was number 2 in the short-lived Evergreen series of paperback books, clearly intended to rival the Penguin series.
