Green buckram with faded gilt lettering on the spine and gilt illustration and lettering on the front board. 118 very clean unmarked and uncreased historical and educational pages of text and 13 wonderful pages illustrated in full-color! Frontis is a black and white photograph of the Saxby Heights Junior Garden Club, Freeport, Ill. (1933). Extremely scarce and out-of-print first edition! "The Author, in preparing this book, feels that it will fill a need for a garden book for children. In her work with Junior Garden Clubs, she has been handicapped by a lack of material written in the simple language of childhood. A copy of' Garden Stories' will serve as a handy reference book, in addition to giving the child something definite to prepare for each garden club meeting.........." ---- from the Foreword..
