About This Item

Melbourne / London: Oxford University Press (OUP) / Humphrey Milford, 1943. 1st ed.. Hardback quarto, dustjacket (facsimile), good plus condition (in good plus dustjacket), many black & white text-photos & drawings (some full-page, including frontispiece & endpapers), plans, rebacked (spine title retained, facsimile front free endpaper), faded edge patches green cloth cover, spine faded jacket (front flap not clipped, rubber stamp front flap), pages toned as common, edgewear, two owner's written names. 148 pp. First edition. This well-illustrated book by heritage garden guru Edna Walling has a twofold purpose - to give pleasure, as a thing of beauty, while also providing practical help to those making new gardens, or intending to reconstruct old ones. Note that gardens planned for and constructed upon large estates are quite applicable to much small areas. (A repaired copy of the scarce first edition, 1943.).
