Germany: K. K. Militarisch Geografischen Institute, 1986. first edition. Maps in Case. Near fine. Maps of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1856. Twenty individual maps in the original case with red faux morocco spine with gilt titles. Chemise. Maps are hand-colored and backed on linen, meant to fold in 6 segments. Very finely engraved. Case and paper faux morocco spine are very handsome. Contains smaller overview map and one sheet of text, printed on both sides. The maps measure 19.5" x 22" when unfolded. All 20 maps are present. Condition is NEAR FINE ; case is excellent with minor wear, very clean and bright. Chemise is very good, no damage, one small ink spot. Maps are all NEAR FINE ; bright and clean with very little appearance of having been opened much. Many have a tissue guard inside. Very suitable for framing. Text in German. Hist. RGR.
