About This Item
London: Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. London, Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, n.d. [1907]. First Edition. First Impression. Hardback. A very good copy. An uncommon lost race novel. Inscribed by the author 'To my dear daughter Evelyn with love Harry Collingwood, 1912'. The book also bears Collingwood's ownership inscription to the front endpaper requesting borrowers to return it. A wonderful association (though I'm struggling to think of a reason, beyond a forgotten birthday, which he would gift his daughter one of his own books five years after the publication that he's habitually lent to others). The book is bound in what I would call blue cloth, though others might say green. David Aronovitz has the green cloth as being the first issue. I'm not sure whether this copy counts as that - I've seen greener copies and a red variant. The edges are bevelled too. That said, I don't think it really matters here. Some softening to the spine tips and a couple of tears. A little shaken and some foxing internally and to the edges. [9464, Hyraxia Books]. n.d. [1907] . Very Good. Hardback. 1st Edition. 1907.
