About This Item

New York: E.P. Dutton, 1953. This Stated First Edition is in Fine condition, with a Good Plus unclipped dust jacket. (See photo.) This monumental work is based on a lifetime of study by Professor Dickinson. According to the dust jackey, "Each of the book's six parts dealing with the land and its people, the physical and political geography and economy, are subdivided into chapters on climate, soils and vegetation, the growth and spread of the German peoples, regionalism in modern Germany, general economic development and economic regions, the foreign trade of Germany, agrifcultural, industrial and commercial regions, in addition to the physical features of Germany which are discussed along with many other engrossing characteristics." The book has dark cloth covers and gilt spine lettering. It includes 32 illustrations and 124 maps and diagrams. As for the interior, the pages are clean, bright, and sparkling throughout. The binding is tight and secure. The book has the small address sticker of the original owner. The book measures 6 by 8 3/4 inches and includes 700 pages. The dust jacket has chipping at the spine crown as well as several tears, repaired on the reverse by the original owner. I've placed it into a Brodart protective sleave. . Hard Cover. Fine/Good +. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
