About This Item
New York, New York, U.S.A.: Dial Books for Young Readers, 1993. First Edition, 2nd Printing 2nd Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. Gorey, Edward. Another in the author's series of juvenile suspense novels featuring Rose Rita Pottinger & Mrs. Zimmerman, who last appeared in "The Letter, the Witch, and the Ring." Story completed by Brad Strickland after Bellairs' death. Collectible because the frontispiece & incredible DJ art are by the late, great Edward Gorey, both front, back, & spine. A FIRST EDITION, Second Printing from 1993, this is an Ex-Lib copy with the usual stamps & markings in front matter & bottom/top outside page edges. Else, this hardcover 8vo is in VG condition: generally quite clean, binding strong with a slight rightward lean, pages creamy white & unmarked. Mild rubbing to all corners from shelf. The unclipped DJ (orig. $14.99 price intact at top of front flap) is Near Fine: having been protected under library mylar, it is exceptionally clean & bright & unworn, BUT there is 2.75" slit to the front cover (through "t" & "r" in last two words in title on fore edge side), unclosed, which occurred when replacing the old mylar with new. Nearly invisible unless you're looking. Residue from old mylar cover still glued inside both covers. DJ has been beautifully protected in new mylar cover for your collection free! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive from us, never "stock" images of books we don't have here! Same Day Shipping on all orders received Weekdays by 2 pm (Pacific); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
