First edition bound in blue cloth with gold decorations and lettering to the front board and spine. 5.00" X 7.50", 270 pp. Introduction by A rthur Machen. Near Fine Copy. Very tiny rub marks at the corners and b ase of the spine. Small spot to the bottom edge of the rear board else covers are bright, clean. Minor tanning to the front & rear fly leave s, a couple of tiny dust spots on the half title page. Contents are ot herwise fine. From wikipedia: in December 1911 (Middleton) took his li fe by poisoning himself with chloroform, which had been prescribed as a remedy for his condition. His literary reputation was sustained by E dgar Jepson and Arthur Machen, the latter in an introduction to Middle ton's collection The Ghost Ship and Other Stories....This collection i s considered a cornerstone title of Victorian Ghost stories. .
