Description:
1863 1st ed CIVIL WAR Reign of Terror in Missouri Stars and Bars by Isaac Kelso'Stars and Bars' is a rare 1863 account of the first two years of the American Civil War. Written by Isaac Kelso, 'Stars and Bars' is a piece of historical fiction giving light to the horrors of the Civil War in Missouri, intending to provide Union civilians an understanding of a Southern perspective. The preface states that
"the Northern people have no adequate conception of the actual state of things at the South, and that there is an apathy at the North, from which patriots need to be awakened".

Description:
Mineola, NY: Dover Publications, Inc., 2004. 1 volume (unpaged), all illustrations; 24 cm. Originally published: New York: Jonathan Cape and Harrison Smith, Inc., 1929. Tight, clean copy. "The most important work of major American artist and illustrator, Gods' Man is a powerful, passionate novel told entirely through images. Lynd Ward (1905-1985) invented the concept of a wordless novel with this evocative, text-free 'woodcut' narrative. Autobiographical in nature, the novel recounts Ward's struggles with his craft and with life in the 1920s. The intricate woodcuts transcend all barriers of language, and fresh details reward the eye with every review. Until now, Gods' Man has been long out of print, available only in high-priced original editions. This top-quality, low-cost republication of Ward's masterpiece will enchant book-lovers of all ages. Unabridged republication of the classic 1929 edition. 139 black-and-white illustrations." - Publisher. . Paperback. Fine. 8vo.
