About This Item
South Carolina: Sturkey Research Company, 1988. FIRST EDITION. Paperback. Near Fine. First Edition. Paperback. Bound in beige paper with dark brown lettering. It features inscriptions and epitaphs from cemeteries in McCormick County, South Carolina. These inscriptions breathe virtual life back into those who have died, for they built the America in which we live today. These deceased persons are now silent and often forgotten, but they are more than mere names inscribed on stone. They were flesh and blood. They had a childhood, a life. They laughed and cried. They planned and dreamed. Tombstone inscriptions and epitaphs tell us about the lives of those who died and the society in which they lived. These inscriptions were a visible means to express earthly virtues, spiritual beliefs, military accomplishments, family attitudes, parental love, and marital devotion. Such inscriptions were not intended to be regarded lightly. Instead they were meant to serve as a worthy memorial to the life of the deceased. 42pp.

CONDITION: Covers are unmarked. Pages are crisp and clean except for a small amount of marginalia on page 35. Binding is tight. Full refund if not satisfied.
