The books are
Williwaw--his first novel, published in 1946. It is a drama about war, maritime adventure and murder.

The Judgement of Paris--his 8th novel, published in 1952. Also a coming-of-age novel, about a young lawyer who spends a year in Europe.
Messiah--his 13th novel, published in 1954. This one is satirical and is about a new religion that replaces Christianity.
Julian--his 15th novel, published in 1964. This is a brilliant narrative novel about the Roman Emperor Flavius Julianus, or Julian the Apostate.
