Howard Baker (1925-2014) served as a United States Senator from Tennessee from 1967-1985. Baker was known as the "Great Conciliator" in his time as Senator. He later served as White House Chief of Staff for President Ronald Reagan from 1987-1988 and eventually became the U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 2001-2005.
