First Printing: December 1955 Folio size tan buckram clothbound hardcover with brown titles on spine and front cover underneath illustrated dust jacket; 206 heavyweight glossy pages with "color and monochrome plates," most full page. From jacket: "About forty of (Pieter Bruegel's) paintings... have survived. Many of them are rather large and contain a great wealth of figures; hence this volume comprises, in addition to complete renderings, a great number of detailed reproductions, which not only show certain beautiful parts of the pictures, but also convey the force and boldness of Bruegel's imagination and of his brush work." The book does not list a Table of Contents, but contents include: Preface The Life of Bruegel Bruegel and the Critics Jacket has edgewear, overall wear, with several small tears, minor chipping to head and heel of spine and chips to back cover. There is an address label on fep with a tacky area underneath were sticker was removed; original price sticker and pencilled markings on rear jacket flap; bumped lower back corner and head and heel of spine.
