About This Item

Gear Works Press, 1965. First Edition. Saddle-stapled wraps. Very Good. Original gray wrappers printed in black and orange; color plate inside rear cover fold-out. One sheet detached from staples, else a Very Good+ copy of this fragile booklet. // With a poem by Lawrence Durrell, an introduction by William Cumming, and photographs by Bob Peterson. The 16pp of text by Robbins constitutes the first monograph on thi s very fine Pacific Northwest artist, often mentioned in the same sentence with Mark Tobey, Morris Graves, and Kenneth Callahan. This work is also the first significant publication of Robbins', produc ed during his first stay in Seattle, in the mid-1960s. He had been working for a short while as the art critic for the Seattle Times. In this essay, critically about Anderson's art as it is, can be se en the beginnings of Robbins' unique style of observations and conclusions that would find full voice in his first novel, six years later.
