About This Item

British Museum, 1964. First. Hardback. Very good; cloth-covered boards over spiral binding. 8vo, stiff pictorial spiral-bound covers. 326 pp, 124 illlustrations (frontispiece in color), biographical notes on the artists, extensive bibliography, index. According to Basil Gray, writing in the preface to this catalogue, the perfection of multiple-block colour-printed woodcuts in Japan took place during the closing months of 1764. Most of the prints in the exhibition can be dated from between 1765 to 1770, the year which marked the death of Harunobu. The illustrations, although predominantly in black-and-white, are finely printed on coated white paper. Each is accompanied by an informative text.

The "Expedited" rate applies to items which can be shipped in a flat-rate BOX. In general, exhibition catalogs and small books can be shipped in the flat-rate envelope. Most larger items will require the flat-rate box. There will be no extra charge for multiple items that can all fit in one envelope or box. If, owing to lighter weight, an item or items can be shipped by standard air mail and the actual cost is less, I will reduce the charge. (I do not run my shipping department as a profit center.) But if the order will not fit into a single fixed-rate envelope or box the actual charge may be higher, in which case I will contact you before proceeding with shipment.
