Neat name on ffep. Map. Colour plates. Slight darkening to pages. 258 pages clean and tight. ChateauHaut-Brion is one of the five first growths. Three of the other first growths have had books written about them, but this is the first history of Haut-Brion as such and has been written with the full co-operation and encouragement of the family. Asa Briggs, who was created a Life Peer in 1976, is one of Britain's most eminent historians and the author of many books, including one on the history of wine. He has been Chancellor of the Open Universety since 1978. .
