Paris: Collection Hetzel, 1879. Hardcover. Very Good -. [4], 395, [1] p., 6 leaves of plates in 1 color: many in-text illustrations; 28 cm. Publisher's binding: red leather spine with five spine compartments between raised bands; red pebbled cloth over boards. Gilt-tooled title in second and fourth compartments and decoration in remaining compartments. Blind-ruled decoration on both boards. All page edges gilt. White moire endpapers. Printed by Gauthier-Villars, listed on the last page with the code 33478. Part of Verne's Voyages Extraordinaires. No date of publication; consistent with first edition (1877), but without the publisher's catalog for 1877-78, suggesting a later issue of the first edition. Stamp on title page and p. 50: Georgian Court College, Sisters of Mercy, Lakewood, N.J. Back endpapers scraped where pocket was removed. With 6 plates not usually noted. In Very Good- Condition: edges of leather spine are rubbed with minor loss at spine ends; corners of boards are frayed; endpapers are scraped; 3-cm. closed tear from fore-edge of half title/frontispiece; small chip in fore-edge of title page; pages and plates clean and tight.
