About This Item

Presumed Ithica, NY: No Publisher, 1910. Unbound. Good. Herbert Hice Whetzel Typed Letter, Signed. No publisher. Presumed Ithica, NY: 1910. Single sheet. New York State College of Agriculture at Cornell University, Department of Plant Pathology letterhead. A single page typed letter from Herbert Hice Whetzel to Fred Carleton Stewart. Whetzel expresses regret on missing a trip to the Adirondacks, and that he is too busy to get away for the rest of the year (his wife was apparently too ill to travel). Whetzel briefly mentions a collecting trip to Labrador Lake, and proposed meeting Stewart later that week. Herbert Hice Whetzel was a noted professor and researching in the field of plant pathology, being one of the first, as well as heading the department at Cornell. He was also a pioneer in the documenting of fungi in Puerto Rico and Bermuda. Fred Carleton Stewart was a professor, mycologist and a plant pathologist. GOOD condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present. Minor toning, wrinkling and creasing.
