Paris: Chez Henrichs, Libraire, Rue de la Loi, 1804. 1st Edition . Leather Bound. Fair/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavo. xvi, 355 pages. Hardcover bound in full speckled calf leather with floral rules around the edges of the front and rear panels in gilt. Spine rules and tooling in gilt. Binding is rubbed and bumped. Top and bottom edges of the spine are worn away. Outer edges of the text block are speckled. Hinges are secure. Early bookplate on the front pastedown shows a pyramid surrounded by a globe, spyglass, books and lyre and with the name engraved below, "Ex Libris L A. A. B. de St. Maurice." The interior is toned and has some damping at the top edge towards the front of the book. Text is in French. A history of pirates and buccaneers in the West Indies in the 17th and 18th Centuries. Originally published in German.
