A few light scratches & one spine faded. VG* Contents condition: PRIVATE COPY NOT EX-LIBRARY. Clean, crisp, tight and bright with no reading wear, no marks to text, slightly dusty top edges, otherwise no visible faults. VG++* Illustrations: A number of b/w prints and line drawings throughout.* Pages: 385 & 400 pp. text. iii & iv pp. blank pages at rear.* Description: In the years between 1860 and 1880, dozens of bush-rangers, some bold and famous, some little more than petty thieves, rampaged across the New South Wales and Victoria countryside ? looting and murdering, bailing up travellers, harassing police, terrorising settlers. Attracted by the fast, free life, these native-born Australians plundered the gold escorts and crowded coaches, fighting it out with police- heroes in the eyes of the public they robbed.* A NEAR FINE copy of the 1st/1st thus with some minor faults.
