Condition:
The covers are in very good condition - bright gilt lettering on the spine; small, pea-sized stain spot on the back cover of volume 2; there are a few small, light scratches; sharp corners. Both volumes are tightly bound. No loose pages. Volume 1 has a split at the hinge at the back of the book; volume 2 has a split at the hinge at the front of the book. The text pages of both volumes are in excellent condition - clean and white with no writing, stains (with the exception of a few light ink smudges on page 1279), foxing or tears found...both volumes nearly appear unread on the inside. Overall a great condition complete 2 volume set. This set also comes with it's original map - I believe this map came in an envelope (and was not attached to one of the volumes)...the envelope is not included (but the map can be tucked nicely under a cover). The map is clean with no stains or writing, but does have some tears along a few of the edges where the map is folded.
