A rare, 19th-century printing of Joseph-François Michaud's "History of the Crusades". Michaud's principal work discusses the beginning of the crusades through the Council of Clermont. It covers the departure of crusaders after the Council of Nicee, the Siege of Antioch, Election of Godefroy, Battle of Ascalon, reign of Baudouin II, conquests of Saladin, and the events designed to protect Jerusalem from a fall.
Note the impressive folding maps in these tomes from the 1859 American edition.
