The pages are yellowing and tanning. The edges of most of the pages are worn. Along with Juvenal, Persius was one of the greatest 1st century Roman satirists. His works consisted of elements of stoicism and were greatly influenced by Horace and Juvenal, in fact the satires of both Juvenal and Persius are often found published together. In his 'Satires', Persius sought a few major philosophical ideas:

This 1507 post-incunable printing of Persius's 'Satyrae' was published in Paris by Jean Barbier and Denis Roce. This edition was edited by Giovanni Britannico, a 15th-century grammarian who is best known for his edition of Persius.

Cornelius Hazart was a 17th-century Dutch Jesuit priest and controversialist writer. His "Ecclesiastical History of the Whole World" delivered on the 'controversial' side of church history, as Hazart explored some of the most detestable acts of the church including tortures, imprisonments, wars on religion, and brutal executions, such as drowning, hangings, beheadings, and burnings.

This 1683 Dutch printing is taken from the first Antwerp edition from 1667. This book covers church history throughout Europe, including Germany, France, Netherlands, and England,
with parts dedicated to the Americas and Africa. This universal church history is unquestionably Hazart's greatest work and is ideal for historical perspective on Jesuit missions and missionaries around the world, as well as martyrs throughout church history.

Robert Morris was an important American Freemason poet who is chiefly remembered for creating the Order of the Eastern Star. He composed over 400 poems most of which dealt with the Eastern Star and Freemasonry. He voyaged to the Holy Land and wrote hymns and poems based on his experiences there. He also published a book describing his sights and discoveries in Syria, Palestine, and Egypt entitled 'Freemasonry in the Holy Land' which featured many of his poems and odes.

Cicero was one of the most notable and prolific Roman figures of ancient Rome. His philosophical works and letters are considered the most reliable source of information for the period leading up to the fall of the Roman Republic. The works of Cicero have been published in numerous languages and formats from as early as the mid-15th-century.

This Latin set was published by Peter Van der Aa in Lyon in 1692 and was edited by the famous Dutch scholar Jacob Gronovius. It contains Cicero's philosophical orations. Gronovius included the contributions of Janus Gruterus and Janus Gulielmus.
