Fine in Very Good+ to Near Fine Slipcase: The books are flawless; the bindings are square and secure; the texts are clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, or labels. A handsome, like-new set, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing no discernible flaws. Virtually 'As New'. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. Appear to be unopened and unread. The Slipcase is near flawless: shows only a small spot rubbing at the top of the 'backstrip' and some moderate rubbing around the edges of the photographic portrait of the author at the rear 'panel'. Very close to "As New". NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (10 x 6 x 6.85 inches) . Each volume Indexed and illustrated with vintage duotone photographs and drawings, maps, and sections of color plates. Red cloth over boards with gilt and blue coat of arms at the front panel and gilt and blue titles at the backstrip. Language: English. Weight: 147.9 ounces. First Edition Thus (2003) ; unstated, in accordance with The Folio Society's customary - but not universal practice. The text was first published in 1956-1958.
