Sargeant includes surveys of the Court of Rome, rites and ceremonies of the Catholic Church, conclave tribunals, election of popes and bishops, and a discourse on monasteries, convents, and nunneries with a description of the consecration of monks and nuns from early forms to the 17th-century traditions.
This book also includes a chapter devoted to describing the Jesuit order, or Society of Jesus. It includes an in-depth look into the institutions established by Ignatius Loyola and the purposes of order.
