Edinburgh: W and A K Johnston, 1901. xviii and 231 pages; x and 203 pages. 2 volumes. 10 coloured chromolithographs (8 uniform groups, tartan, colours), vignette badge on title page and 34 other plates, 16 maps and plans. Folio. A very good pair in the publisher's half tan calf and red cloth gilt; the spines are a little rubbed; the text and plates are exceptionally clean and bright. One of the great regimental histories. Ogilby Index 226 for the plates. Sorsky 333 for the Mutiny. The text centres on the Indian Mutiny with more than 100 pages on the regiment's services in Persia and India 1856-1859. An 80 page section 'records of officers' services' gives full details of ranks and war services.
