Near fine. Bi-fold, chain lined paper, with two pages of large handed script. Charles writes that he has been very unwell, missed an event, but invites the recipient to take tea. Signs, 'Yrs Very Truly, C Swain." Swain was an honorary professor of poetry at the Manchester Royal Institution, and in 1856 was granted a civil list pension. He joined Lockett & Co., a firm of engravers and lithographers in Manchester. He had artistic interests
