The covers are red with gold lettering and the book is 533 pages with 2 pages of advertisments at the end of the book. Scribner's logo on copyright page. Both hinges cracked. animal bites at the lower spine and last few pages at the lower edge. Top edges gilt. Slightly pulled.

Synopsis

The House of Mirth (1905), by Edith Wharton, is a novel about New York socialite Lily Bart attempting to secure a husband and a place in rich society. It is one of the first novels of manners in American literature.
