Specimen plants (large mature species) for indoor decoration are now available from many sources and are used both for beauty and as structural design elements in a room. Philodendrons and dieffenbachias and lacy seven-foot trees such as Ficus benjamina are all part of the plant-in-home usage. So are large flowering plants such as hibiscus and orchids. Large cacti and succulents are other notable examples.
