A first UK edition copy of this satirical and romantic novel, which was made into a film starring Clark Gable. The first UK edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Frederic E. Wakeman Sr. (1909-1998) was a writer and director. His novel The Hucksters is a critique of the post-World War II radio advertising industry, with romantic entanglements for the protagonist. It was soon made into a 1947 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film directed by Jack Conway, starring Clark Gable, Deborah Kerr and Ava Gardner. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is smart though faded to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is bright and smart, with just a little chipping to the head of the spine. Near Fine
