New York: Farrar , Straus and Giroux, 1979. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. FIRST EDITION. Faint tobacco aroma. Top and fore-edges lightly tanned. Dustjacket near fine. Tip of jacket top edge stained. Light scuffing to jacket now Mylar protected. Silver lettering debossed to maroon, cloth-covered spine of taupe-colored boards. Black and white photographs. Clean, bright, tight. 398 pp with sources, notes, bibliography and index. While Mayakovsky has been glorified as the official state poet, it has not always been so. This biography details his personal life and explains why he was the opposite of the ideal Soviet man.
