About This Item
Edward VII (Albert Edward; 1841 â€" 1910) was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 1901 until his death in 1910 It is interesting that this volume prepared for his coronation is dated June 26, 1902, which was the planned coronation date However, he had an episode of appendicitis two days before that and had to undergo surgery and hospitalization Therefore he was not actually crowned until August 9, 1902
This large (12" x 16") volume of photos and plates is in red leatherette wrappers, with blindstamped titles and designs on the covers There is significant wear and chipping to the covers and spine, and a 2" patch of surface is worn away on the lower front cover The binding is still holding however The pages, have become fragile with age and the lower corners of the first few pages (which are pages of advertisements) have 1" chip loss Most of the contents, and all of the plates are intact, and most of the plates still retain their tissue guard pages, although the tissue has become very fragile
