Half-bound red morocco leather fine bindings by “Hatchards, Piccadilly.” Marbled paper to baords with gilt line edging, raised banding and gilt panelling and lettering to spines. Top page edges gilt, marbled endpapers. In very good conditions. Lovely smart leather fine bindings. Some minor foxing to blank sides of endpapers. Some occasional spots to outer page edges (edges rough cut.) All plates (except portrait) are tissue guarded, all plates clean and bright. Pages all very clean and tight throughout. No penned inscriptions or marks. Else an excellent clean and tight set. 3 volumes: xliv (Memoir & Preface) + 283pp, 336pp, & 280pp. Illustrated with 94 B&W illustrations (21 full-page engraved plates, many text vignettes) by Cruikshank, Leech,Tenniel and others. Including decorative engraved title pages and frontis plate in vol.1. Illustrated edition of the Ingoldsby Legends, “enriched with rare felicity” by George Cruikshank, John Leech, and John Tenniel.
