Some scuffing to cloth. Dampstain on front. Holes in hinges. Text block edge roughened. Pages 33 to 39 have large tears in margins. Foxing to first pages including frontispiece tissue guard. A few pages uncut.
A collection of myths, legends, ghost stories and poetry, supposedly written by Thomas Ingoldsby of Tappington Manor, actually a pen-name of Barham, an English clergyman. The amusing stories have been illustrated by many artists over the years, including John Leech, George Cruikshank, John Tenniel, but surely Arthur Rackham is the most suitable for these tales.
