New York: Viking Penquin, 1984. First Edition Thus . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. An Albany set story about a band of newspaper strikers in the 1960's. 278 pp. Book was originally published by Dial in 1969 and remained obscure until Kennedy won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction for Ironweed (which ironically had been rejected 13 times!.) At that point, The Ink Truck was republished by Viking Penquin. Introduction to this edition by author. Book has cream coloured cloth spine with black and blue text, and light blue paper covered boards. Spine ends are lightly rubbed, there is a black magic marker 'R' on front pastedown and 1 1/2" X 1/16" crease at top front corner. Top of front flap is clipped and a price of £8.95 indicates it was probably intended to be an export edition. DJ has little bit of edge wear top rear panel. Rear panel carries comparative B/W portaits of Kennedy in 1969 and 1984. Book is from the collection of the Toronto author/poet and frequently host at Harbourfront literary events, Greg Gatenby, as witnessed by his signature and the year of this book's acquisition ffep.
