About This Item

London: Published for Wm. Collins Sons, Ltd., by The London Book Co. Ltd, (1934). Movie Tie-In Novel Library Edition. Issued at the time of the release of the James Whale directed classic film adaptation of The Invisible Man and the dust jacket bears the line: “Filmed by Universal Pictures.” The dust jacket illustration is a colorful painting of an English policeman and some people attempting to seize the invisible man who is shown only by his eyes and two hands. Very good in original gilt-stamped blue cloth in chipped largely at top and bottom of spine and used dust jacket with some tears and dust soiling.

Synopsis

Invisible Man is a novel written by HG Wells, first published as a serial in  Pearson's Weekly  in 1897 before being published as a book by C. Arthur Pearson in 1897. The story follows the scientist Griffith, who through experimentation has become the Invisible Man of the title.  Griffith's initial, almost comedic, adventures are soon overshadowed by the bizarre streak of terror he unleashes upon the inhabitants of a small village, and the novel is noted for its horror, suspense and psychological nuance.
