Illustrated with a frontispieceThis biography has been called one of the cruellest and most damaging portraits of a subject ever, though Vulliamy claims in his preface that he tries to offer a clear and honest view of the eighteenth century figure.Bookplate of Rissa to the front paste down. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with some loss to the head of the spine, and a couple of very small chips. Very light cockling to the cloth, mostly to the spine and tail of the rear board. Light rubbing to the joints. Some spots to the fore edge. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with only a few light spots. Very Good
