Part Of A Large Collection Of Original Antique Engravings Formed By A Southern California Artist In The Early To Middle Twentieth Century. Each Plate Has Small Glue Marks On Reverse Where They Were Tipped In To An Album. This Example Trimmed To Margins Of Image And Mounted On Another Sheet. Jaroslav Borsita Of Martinic , Also Martinitz , Czech: Jaroslav Borita Z Martinic , (1582-1649). On 23 May 1618 , Protestants, Led By Count Heinrich Matthias Von Thurn , Threw Him, His Imperial Governor Colleague Wilhelm Slavata, And The Writer Fabricius, Out Of The Window Of Prague Castle (The Defenestration Of Prague). Maximilian's Troops Under Tilly Restored The Old Balance Of Power In Bohemia. In 1620 At White Mountain The Bohemian Army Was Defeated. Martinic Came To Prague With The Victors And Was Elevated To The Rank Of Count By The Emperor For His Faithful Service. In Addition, The Emperor Gave Martinic The City Of Slaný And Accepted Him Into The State Council. Martinic Also Earned The Titles And Posts In The Committee Of Inquiry Of Count Liechtenstein Against The Leaders Of The So-Called Bohemian Insurgents. The Objectives Of This Tribunal Were The Political And Economic Annihilation Of All Participants In The Uprising, The Abolition Of All National Privileges Of The Bohemian Estates And The Eradication Of Protestantism. These Were Goals Martinic Spent His Entire Life Trying To Achieve. In The Following Years, He Continued His Imperial Career. In 1623 He Received The Office Of A Highland Judge, 1625 That Of A Provincial Chamberlain, Later That Of A Landhofmeister And In 1638 He Took Over The Oberburggrafenamt Of Bohemia. From The Spanish King Philip Iv. , He Received The Order Of The Golden Fleece . His Name Reappears In The Conquest Of The Lesser Town Of Prague By The Swedish General Königsmark. Martinic And His Family Fell Into The Hands Of The Swedes And Their Goods Were Confiscated. Martinic Survived And Experienced The End Of The Thirty Years War.
