Oliver Laurence North (born October 7, 1943) is an American political commentator, television host, military historian, author, and retired United States Marine Corps lieutenant colonel. A veteran of the Vietnam War, North was a National Security Council staff member during the Iran-Contra affair, a political scandal of the late 1980s. He hosted a talk show on Radio America from 1995 to 2003, and hosted War Stories with Oliver North on Fox News from 2001 to 2016. From 1995 to 2003, he was host of his own nationally syndicated radio program on Radio America known as the Oliver North Radio Show or Common Sense Radio. North was the host of the television show War Stories with Oliver North from 2001 to 2016 and is a regular commentator on Hannity, both on the Fox News Channel. In addition, he regularly speaks at both public and private events. LtCol Peter Newman, USMC, and his family are threatened when his cover is blown. While preparing for a clandestine U.S. mission to find Iraqi nuclear weapons, Newman's wife Rachel is kidnapped in Jerusalem. When Israel discovers that Iraq has nukes, they plan a preemptive strike on Baghdad with Jericho missiles. If that happens, it could trigger a Middle East War that could go global. Only one man knows all of the pieces of the puzzle, but he is a target on the move. Newman has to choose whether to go ahead with the mission or abandon it to find and rescue his wife. Iraq races to attack Israel; Washington and Jerusalem engage in frantic, last-minute diplomacy. It seems as if nothing can prevent Armageddon. This book is dedicated to the memory of the four U.S. Marines of HMM 268 and the eight members of the Royal Marine Commando contingent who were the first casualties of the war to liberate Iraq.
