Remains particularly well-preserved overall; tight, bright, clean and strong. Physical description; 2 volumes (863 pages) : color illustrations ; 28 cm. Notes; A two-volume work concerning the production of jewellery which is divided into the periods 1789-1861 and 1862-1910, the second of which is relevant to the scope of ABM. In her essay entitled 'Circumstance, pomp and artistic renewal, 1881-1910', Bury discusses the design of jewellery for the British royal family and presents work by Carlo Joseph and Arthur Alphonse Giuliano, Phoebe Traquair, Edith Dawson, and Henry Wilson. In her essay `In and out of mourning' she describes the mourning jewellery of the Victorian era, and in `A typology of fashion, 1881-1910' she considers development in the fashions of the period and the influence of trends such as Art Nouveau and neo-classicism.
