Red coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Photographic dust wrapper, being a coloured photograph of the black-and-white frontispiece, with white and red coloured titles to the front panel and black and white coloured titles to the spine. Black-and-white photograph on the back panel showing Joan Sutherland and Maria Callas. The biography of Joan Sutherland who after years of trial and tribulations became a household name after her triumphant portrayal of Lucia di Lammermoor at Covent Garden in 1959, and then the premier soprano of the world. Softening of the back strip edges along with some fading. There are a few marks and rubs to the back strip and the book corners are bumped and the lower book edge is rubbed. Stains and marks to the book panels with tanning and light foxing of the text block edges. Age toning of the pages with some foxing of the first few and last few pages of the book with offset tanning also present. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. There is a small piece missing to the lower left-hand corner of the front panel and top left-hand corner of the back strip. Chipping along the dustwrapper creases with fading of the back strip. Rubbing and creasing of the dustwrapper edges with some handling marks to the back strip. This is the first Australian edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 256 pages,.
