About This Item

University of New Mexico Press, 1983. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. Book is clean with a square, tight binding and bright, white pages. Dust jacket has minor wear on the edges that is difficult to see in the scans. John Gaw Meem is unquestionably the most important architect ever to have worked in New Mexico. In the sixty-year span of his career he designed or redesigned public buildings and private dwellings, banks, schools, libraries, ranch houses, hospitals, museums, numerous churches, the Santa Fe Plaza, and the University of New Mexico. When we think of a "typical" New Mexico building style, we are really thinking of Meem's characteristic modifications of Pueblo and Spanish Colonial architecture. Paul Horgan describes Meem in his foreword as having given "a comprehensive image to civilized life in the Rocky Mountain Southwest." The book you see in the images is the actual book we have for sale. Why pay more? When you buy this book from us, you are helping to support a small brick and mortar family owned store. We have been curating our collection for three generations and currently have over 250,000 volumes in stock. Please feel free to call for more stock. Please be aware that if you request any shipping service other than Media Mail Standard Shipping, we may have to ask for more than quoted to ship this large heavy item.
