First edition, complete in three volumes. 20th Century rebind in brown cloth with black leather title labels. Covers in first class condition. New white endpapers. Excellent solid bindings. Marking and occasional foxing to text in all volumes, numerous pages have had the top corner folded. In Vol I top of page p1/2 has been torn off and repaired with archival tape. In Vol II top corner of p219/220 has been torn off and is absent (no loss of text). Single stamp to title pages of Vol II and Vol III. The very scarce first edition of one of the 19th Century's most popular novels, this set has a later rebind and two damaged pages, but still an attractive example. . Overall condition is Good Plus.
