The first edition of this biography of the painter John Pettie with beautiful colour illustrations throughout. First edition of John Pettie by Martin Hardie in the original publisher's decorative green cloth binding. John Pettie was a well renowned nineteenth century Scottish painter. This expansive biography includes contents such as 'Pettie as a Portrait Painter' and 'A Picturesque Village, Pettie's birth and boyhood in East Linton'. Beautifully illustrated with fifty colour plates and eight small black and white illustrations in the text. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's decorative green cloth. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and minimal bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
