A.& C.BLACK. 1908. 9.25 x 6.75 inches. In light brown cloth covers with gilt to spine and front and green and red design to spine and front. With illustrated dustwrapper. Gilt top edge. In very good condition with very good dustwrapper. (d/w. Spine rubbed at ends with small pieces missing. Corners rubbed. Not price clipped. With protective plastic wrap). Mild foxing to edges and endpapers. Presentation label to front endpaper, dated 1918. Occasional foxing spots inside. Colours clean and bright. Else a clean and tight copy. 278 pp. Many colour plates with titled tissue guards. John Pettie RA was a painter from Edinburgh who spent most of his career in London. He became a member of the Royal Academy in 1866 and a full academician in 1874. This book describes his life and work with many examples.
