About This Item

Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1981 Jungle-green cloth with gold titles, gift inscription on FFEP, illustrated jacket with closed tears, small loss from rear panel and light chipping to spine ends. Things go terribly awry when animals in a mysterious board came suddenly begin to appear in the house. Van Allsburg's deftly rendered conte pencil drawings amaze and spark the imagination. Making a movie from this fabulous 1982 Caldecott Award winning picture book would have made perfect sense to me, too!. First Edition First Printing. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Good +. Illus. by Chris Van Allsburg. Oblong 4to.

Synopsis

Jumanji is the title of a 1981 children's illustrated short story written and illustrated by the American author Chris Van Allsburg. It was made into a 1995 film of the same name. Both the book and the movie are about a magical board game that implements real animals and other jungle elements as the players are playing the game. The troubles which the players have to overcome appear in real life, not only in the board game.
