From back cover: "When it came to rail-based mass transit, Kansas City had it all. From the first horse car to the last streetcar, the KC transit scene was replete with every type of public transit during its 88 years of existence - horse cars, cable cars, steam dummies, and a host of electric streetcars from primitive, home-built sparkers lurching over unpaved streets to sleek modern PCC's gliding along miles of private right-of-way." This book is a definitive history for the KC streetcar scene from 1870 to 1957.
This book is packed with history, recollections, sidebar vignettes, technical data, almost 400 photographs, and dozens of other pieces of artwork. It also has maps and track layouts for each of the car barns.
Fine condition. However, I did note that there are two tiny scratches on the front of the book in the photo area that are very hard to see. The inside is pristine. Clean. Tight. Appears to have never been read. Oversize book.
Please use the photos as part of the description.
Note: I do have two more of these books, but one has a noticeable gouge on the front and the other has a noticeable gouge on the back. They are on a separate listing for $55.00 each. Please see the other listing for details.
416 pages including Bibliography and Index.
