New York: E. P. Dutton, 1954. Very good (rubbed covers, spine, edges; some light stains, probably water, to the bottom edges of the first 18 pages and the rear pastedown) in good only dj (worn, water damage visible on white portions, but completely intact). A charming story of Jewish life in East End London about a boy Joe and Mr. Kandinsky, a roomer in the same crowded building, who helps Joe recognize ordinary wonders, including the goat who is really a unicorn. 120 pages with numerous black-and-white illustrations. . 1st American edition. Hard Cover. Illus. by James Boswell.

Synopsis

A Kid for Two Farthings is a 1953 novel by the British writer Wolf Mankowitz, based on the author's experiences of growing up within a Jewish community in London's East End. It was translated into a film by Carol Reed in 1955. Mankowitz himself wrote the screenplay. The story was adapted into a musical play in 1996, and presented at the Bridewell Theatre in London by the Mercury Workshop, starring Ron Moody as Kandinsky.
