Description:
1680 John DRYDEN 1ed Play The Kind Keeper Mr Limberham Comedy English TheaterJohn Dryden was a 17th-century English poet who was known as England's very first Poet Laureate and would lead England into a literary period that would become known as the Age of Dryden. He also established standard forms of English poetry though his satires, fables, epigrams, poems, and plays.
Dryden's work "Mr. Limberham or the Kind Keeper" is a play that, after its early performances, was considered by many to be a failure as the promiscuous content was unsettling to many of the viewers. This 1680 first edition was published in London by Bentley.

St. Ives: Being The Adventures of a French Prisoner in England (1897) is an unfinished novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was completed in 1898 by Arthur Quiller-Couch. Unable to write, Stevenson dictated thirty chapters of the novel to his stepdaughter as a diversion from his debilitating illness. He alternated dictating St. Ives and The Weir of Hermiston but gradually lost interest in the former. The plot concerns the adventures of the dashing Capitaine Jacques St. Ives, a Napoleonic soldier, after his capture by the British.
